Carl D. Gayden joins Tides Advocacy after a distinguished career spanning over 20 years in financial services and the nonprofit sector. Most recently, Carl served as the Chief Financial Officer of LA Family Housing Corporation (LAFH), a leading nonprofit homeless service provider and affordable housing developer in Los Angeles. Prior to LAFH, Carl was the Head of Finance and Operations at Snap Foundation, a tax-exempt private foundation established through the generous gifts of Snap, Inc. founders Evan Spiegel and Bobby Murphy. The foundation is focused on developing pathways to the creative economy and art programs for underrepresented youth in Los Angeles.
Carl has also served as the Senior Director of Administration and Workplace Management for First 5 LA, where he managed administrative functions including finance, operational excellence, contract compliance, information technology, facilities, and records management. Before that, he was the Deputy Executive Director of the San Francisco Housing Authority (SFHA), where he oversaw all financial, accounting, budgeting, strategic planning, human resources, payroll, information technology, and procurement activities.
In addition to his professional achievements, Carl is committed to community service and serves on the board of Groceries for Seniors, a nonprofit organization providing free food to low-income elderly individuals in San Francisco.
Carl holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Finance and a Master of Business Administration from the Executive MBA program at the University of San Francisco. He is married and has one son.
